What stayed with us
A Tiffany clock and a gentleman in top hat and tails set the tone, theatre in the service of welcome. The room offered five distinct places to rest before even reaching the bed, while Byredo Bal d’Afrique amenities turned routine into ritual. In Peacock Alley, a pianist played as the quiet magic of Golden Hour unfolded. On the 44th floor, YUN impressed with dishes and mocktails crafted with real precision. Breakfast combined health, indulgence, and a sense of place, papaya, chia pudding, and local Qatari specialties. A high-floor pool invited true swimming, the spa honoured silence. The fitness centre, too, stood out, designed for genuine training, not just appearance.
Arrival in Style
The arrival set the tone. A gentleman in top hat and tails opened the limousine door, took care of our luggage, and escorted it to the room. At the entrance, the Tiffany clock stood like something you would expect outside an iconic New York hotel, a signal of heritage and timelessness, translated into Doha. It was theatre, but in the service of welcome.
Rooms Designed for Living
Our room felt less like a hotel room and more like a private residence. Before even reaching the bed, there were five distinct places to rest: a chaise for stretching, an armchair for reading, a desk for work, a quiet corner that simply held you, and a vanity inside the walk-in wardrobe – a personal favourite of my wife. The bathroom was a statement in marble, with double basins, a spacious shower, and amenities by Byredo Bal d’Afrique, turning routine into ritual.
Dining with Character
Peacock Alley remains the soul of Waldorf Astoria. Spacious, glamorous, and alive. Iced matcha was well balanced, juices tasted of real fruit rather than sugar, and the chocolate cake carried a note of salt that elevated flavour. In the afternoon, a pianist played. One afternoon while we were resting with a drink we asked a member of staff if she could approach the pianist and request our musical wish “Golden Hour.” She did so with grace and the melody began almost instantly turning the pause into memory. It felt like a private concert in the middle of Doha, a reminder that true luxury is often intimacy disguised as theatre.
If you are looking for a refined bar with live music, The Cortland Bar is the recommendation. But the true highlight is YUN, on the 44th floor. Dishes show both confidence and restraint: truffle dumplings, wok-fried beef, milk pudding with truffle honey, and iced black sesame. Even the mocktails are worth noting, crafted with precision and presented as seriously as cocktails in the world’s finest bars.

Breakfast That Grounds the Day
Breakfast here protects privacy. Tables are spaced generously, so mornings begin unhurried. Produce is excellent. Standouts included papaya of rare flavour (my wife noted its benefits for women’s health), a high-fibre chia pudding that made travel gentler on the body, and a set of local Qatari specialities that grounded the experience in place. This balance of health, indulgence, and cultural authenticity made breakfast at Waldorf Astoria Doha one of the most memorable morning rituals of our journey
Wellness Above the City
The pool sits high in the tower, long and perfectly tempered for real laps. The spa offers separate areas for men and women, each with sauna and calm resting zones. The fitness centre exceeded expectations: not only fully equipped for serious training,
